What can I do for you?
-
I have written close to 100 features, travel narratives, profiles, galleries, guides and articles for online media outlets, magazines and national newspapers on both sides of the Atlantic. Editors consistently praise my way with words, my thorough and thoughtful research, and my knack for nailing clean, reader-ready copy that inspires curiosity and wonder. I pride myself on the care dedicated to each piece and on my creative spice.
From reporting on conservation efforts on remote islands, trailblazing social enterprises in major cities and craft beverages created in the Latvian countryside, to producing comprehensive guides to incredible destinations around the world, my assignments have taken me to three continents thus far. I’ll travel anywhere and everywhere for the stories that need to be told, though Europe really has my heart.
Need a sub-editor with a sharp eye for detail and meticulous commitment to editorial excellence and consistency? That’s me — I can fact, spell and grammar-check, iron out and update content for SEO, relevance, sensitivity and accuracy, strictly adhering to in-house style and tone of voice. I’ll throw in some killer headline suggestions, too.
Depending on the commission and the publication, I can take on desk-research work such as evergreen listicles, round-ups, interviews and trend pieces. I also have capacity for a limited number of short contracts and day shifts here and there, so please contact me via the form below to discuss briefs and availability, and click the ‘Portfolio’ tab above for my most recent select clips.

Want to share your unique brand story with the world, but are struggling to put it into words? Hiring a digital content specialist with the potential to spin sentences into gold might just be the beam of sunlight your business needs to grow — and I’ve packed my best hat.
My past commercial clients have included a travel-planning app whose creators sought my help devising a dynamic content marketing strategy, ghostwriting blog posts and enlivening their web copy, and a walking holiday operator looking to revitalise their website’s blog with fresh material.
In addition to reinvigorating your web copy and penning blog posts positioned to galvanise your customers, I can produce the following long-form content for both B2C and B2B, brands and organisations in the travel, tourism, leisure, lifestyle and hospitality spaces:
Fact sheets
eBooks
Newsletters
Branded magazines for hotels, cruise lines, etc.
Advertorial campaigns
Scripts for promo videos (fun fact: I have a masters in playwriting)
LinkedIn posts
Case studies
Brochures
Email marketing
+ more!
I can also assist with social media strategy and content creation, and will consider consulting on compelling projects outside of my usual niches if there is alignment. So, if you’re looking for a proficient content writer and strategist to help refine your digital presence and build trust within your network through engaging, energetic prose, do get in touch to book a complimentary discovery call where we’ll chat through your bespoke needs and objectives. I’m currently in the market for both ad hoc jobs and regular/retainer clients.

While I have far more experience in wielding a pen than a camera, I’ve recently invested a lot of time and effort into improving my photography. As a result, I’m excited to be able to offer quality editorial photography in tandem with my written assignments, and am keen to collaborate with hotels and other travel and lifestyle brands in telling their visual stories. Click the ‘Gallery’ tab above for some of my favourite shots.
As a former staff writer, I’m also well-versed in the art of picture research and editing, having mastered my Photoshop skills while experimenting with impactful lead-image formats at loveEXPLORING. Need a then-and-now split image of a famous landmark? You got it. Or how about a cut-out collage even Cold War Steve would envy?

So you want to be a travel writer?
Sounds glamorous, doesn’t it? And don’t get me wrong; it really can feel like the archetypal dream job. But it also takes a whole lot of hard graft, persistence, patience, resilience, originality, investigative prowess and entrepreneurship to really turn travel writing into a secure, sustainable and lucrative career.
Within two years of getting my first pitch accepted in October 2020, I was on assignment for FOOD by National Geographic Traveller and seeing my work on the shelves of my local supermarket. Within three years, I was being shortlisted for awards alongside industry heavyweights and securing senior staff writer roles. Sure, that’s all very impressive on proverbial paper, but it called upon every ounce of fortitude I possess to make it happen.
I’ve been exactly where you are now — with no clips, no contacts and no journalism training preparing me for entering this daunting industry. But in the five years that I’ve navigated the often-bumpy terrain of travel media, I’ve garnered an arsenal of nifty tricks and tips that I wish I knew at the beginning of my journey. That’s why I now want to share those insights with aspiring writers like YOU.
This year, I’m setting aside an exclusive few slots in my schedule so that you can pick my brains for a whole 90 minutes on Zoom about all things travel writing! It’s the perfect opportunity to ask all your burning questions about this career path and the industry, tap me for insider know-how, and hear my honest advice about the realities of freelancing.
